I am stoked to take home the best trick award from this years King of the Lagoon in Büsum.
The event started on a Friday afternoon with a training session in the park. The wind was solid and I could get used to the features really good.
The next day the real competition started off with some good winds and I managed to win my first heat. As the day got older, the wind got lighter and lighter and in the semi final I wasn’t able to go over the kicker with enough speed anymore which left me unable to show off my moves. As the judging criteria was divided in the 3 categories slider, kicker I was really unlucky and missed the final round. Just one kicker trick would have made the difference. Bummer, but that’s life. I hope to get some bigger kites soon for next year so this won’t happen again.
Looking forward to the summer now.
So, I did’t make it into the Triple S, as always. But this time it really opened my eyes. From now on I will stop striving for success and fame, because it’s not gonna work out anyways. The kitesurfing industry is a really weird business full of empty promises and disappointments.
I will refocus on the things that brought me into kitesurfing on the first hand: The fun and the strive for progression. The last 2 years I started to see kitesurfing on a really competitive base, trying to somehow work my way up to the inner circle, which narrowed my perspective and completely changed my attitude towards this great sport.
Kitesurfing has always been more then a sport for me, but instead of seeing it as a “job” I will see it as a way of life from now on. Having a board under my feet, riding through the liquid element and seeing the world from above is just what keeps me coming back for more. This freedom of mind combined with the ability to express yourself throughout your riding is definately one of the best feelings in the world.
I define myself through kitesurfing, not through the success and fame, but through the friends I make, the moments I live and the feelings I feel.
I kitesurf because I want to and not because I have to.
Free your mind and enjoy yourselves!!!
I really hope to make it this year. I’ve put a lot of sweat, blood and tears into this video and really wish it pays off!!
Kitesurfing in the winter time is always a battle against the elements. A battle that I will fight till the end and that can be really fun sometimes.
The other day I was riding in Broager/Denmark and Lasse Schneppenheim filmed for a bit. Here is the result.
I hope you enjoyed the time with your friends and family.
I had a great time, but the cold weather is slowly starting to suck a lot. It feels like you have 5 hours of daylight max and windy days only come hand in hand with temperatures around 3°C.
Nevertheless I am trying to get on the water as much as possible. Besides that I found the best thing ever to do in the winter: Cross Fit. With the support of CrossFit Flensburg I will be in the best shape of my life after this winter. The training is super hard and super varied. You never do the same workout twice and always train in a group of motivated and friendly people.
#CFFL Loving it!!
So it’s been a while now since I left Brazil, the ultimate kitesurfing destination, to continue studying. The days are getting shorter and the water is getting colder, but still I am enjoying my time here so far.
I already had some really fun days on the water with my dad and my friends. It’s always good to be around people that share your passion.
I am still hoping for the predicted global warming to kick in so that we can ride at least without gloves all year long.
Here are some impressions from the last weeks
I just finished my new video “Cloud Nine” from my trip to Barra Nova/Brazil.
I am super happy with the way it turned out and I can definately say this is my best video yet.
The german summer is quickly coming to an end, but that doen’s hold me back in any way. I am just gonna shift my focus a bit towards some projects that have never been done before. Me and my crew already planned some really cool stuff which can perfectly done in the winter time.
I will definately keep you up to date. But first enjoy this flashback to my time in paradise:
